FFR Sleep FAQ and Troubleshooting

How does it work? - FFR Sleep uses rhythmic tapping on your wrist utilizing the haptics in your smart watch. This tapping decreases in frequency over time, which should trigger the "frequency following response". The frequency following response in people is the same thing that makes you feel sleepy if you hear a wind-up music box slow down as it winds down.

Ok, but how do I make it work? - Start the app on your phone and watch. Tap the "Next" button, and an ad will play. Once the ad finishes, the "Sleep" button will appear on your watch. Tap the "Sleep" button, lie down, close your eyes, and focus on the tapping. It'll last about 8 minutes, which should be enough time for you to fall asleep. If you purchased a subscription, there's no need to open the app on your phone, just open the app on your watch and tap the sleep button, and it'll start tapping.

What smart watches do you support? - Presently, only the Apple Watch 2.0 and later are supported for IoS. WearOS Watches are supported with Android Phones.

My watch taps, but I can barely feel it - Do you have an Apple Watch? Apple removed the haptic feedback slider from the watch, so presently the best option for improving the experience is to wear your watch on the inside of your wrist. We're currently investigating the ability to set the haptic response stregth in code. Fortunately, with WearOS we were able to control the intensity of the taps, so it shouldn't be a problem.
